The major components of our Unified Formulation, however, are not thoroughly obscure, and to a great extent stare us in the face in the Garden of Eden chapter. The enigma of the Garden lies essentially in discerning what is symbolic, what is literal, and what is shorthand notation. Indeed it is a philosophically exquisite parable—which works. The Garden of Eden tale is indeed the authentic Divine theodicy, and it fittingly leads off the biblical narrative—for theodicy is central to any monotheistic theology.
